Game Overview

Story:
In the land of Oculus there is one great kingdom that rules over most of the land, Monolith. The kingdom of Monolith is ruled by a benevolent King, Lord Rose. Lord Rose is a kind and virtuous leader that has proved his title several times over. King Rose in the days before his kingship was a royal knight. With his brothers in arms at his side the Monolith kingdom could take on anything that the darkness could conjure. Ahh the darkness, I have seemed to jump over a large hurdle that plagues the land of Oculus. “The Darkness”, as it is called by the peoples of Monolith, is a void that brings frightful creatures to the land during the night. No one knows for sure where or when this calamity started but the royal knights of the Monolith kingdom have been fighting this scourge since the Kingdoms founding’s. The land of Oculus has a long and rich history but with riches comes tragedy. Many lesser kingdoms raised and fell in Oculus’ history so many castles are left in ruin with only the birds to occupy them. However, the monsters in the resent days have been attacking in a more uniformed fashion making Lord Rose believe that a leader has been named within their ranks. Lord Rose fearful of the growing strength of the enemy summons his greatest knights to drive back the looming evil. Lord Rose commands his knights to go out into the kingdom and find the source of the evil and destroy it. The knights were given colorful armor as they left on their adventure so that if they were found dead they could be recognized and returned home if they were in the right hands. One of the knights, Sir Blue, decided to bring his squire along so that he could learn what it truly meant to be a knight. On their mission Sir Blue and Periwinkle found and killed many viscous creatures but never found where they were coming from. One dark and bleak night the two adventures were attacked by a horde of over powering enemies. Periwinkle did not know what to do as Sir Blue fought back the terrifying monsters. Suddenly, from seemingly nowhere, all the creatures disappeared. Sir Blue, tired but proud of his valor, turned to Periwinkle to joke about his greatness when all of the sudden a black and red sword plunged through Sir Blue’s chest. As Sir Blue’s body fell off of the sword and onto the ground Periwinkle looked up to see a tall dark figure with red eyes standing in front of him. “I am the Necromancer of Ludroth and I will make your kingdom crumble before me” said the tall dark figure. Periwinkle frozen in fear watched as the necromancer slinked back into the darkness. Alone and in an unknown place Periwinkle fell to his knees and began to cry on Sir Blue’s lifeless body. Periwinkle after some time decided to take up Sir Blue’s armor and sword to hunt down his mentor’s slayer. Periwinkle unsure of where to go pushed through the brush that the Necromancer disappeared into and found a castle with ghouls guarding it. Periwinkle snuck inside and is now making his way up the tallest tower to find the Necromancer.
Periwinkle's Adventure is a dungeon crawling rogue-like that take inspiration from The Binding of Isaac Rebirth and Rogue Legacy. The game has a three quarter top down camera, unlike Issac or Rogue Legacy. As Periwinkle, the player will move from room to room, clearing the enemies and trying to find the boss for each floor. Once the boss is defeated the player can choose to go up to the next floor or finish exploring the other rooms on that floor (moving farther into the castel will be in the completed version of the game). On each floor there is always going to be a boss room and an item room. The item room will not have any enemies in it but it will contain an item that the player can choose to take. The different items will change different features about Periwinkle (speed, damage, health, etc.).
